What is The "Negro Spiritual" Scholarship Foundation? The "Negro Spiritual" Scholarship Foundation, Inc. was organized in 1996 with headquarters in Orlando, Florida. It is a sister organization to Orlando Opera. The mission of the foundation is to preserve the solo voice singing of Negro spirituals while providing scholarships to African-American students. Governed by a diverse and dedicated Board of Directors, our agency is certified as a not for profit corporation by the State of Florida, and enjoys 501 (c)(3) status as a legal tax-exempt entity. The Foundation and its programs depend on fundraising and the generosity of corporate friends and individual benefactors for financial support. All gifts and contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
